Invisible children fill our schools, our courts, our juvenile justice systems and then our prisons. Invisible children fail at school, with their peers, and in the larger community around them. We can show them that the community cares and will see to it that they get a fair chance to lead a fulfilling life. This is a place to learn about issues affecting abused and abandoned children and the policies that rule their lives.
On Aug. 28, 2005, the Hibbing, MN Daily Tribune ran an article about me and my book, Invisible Children, titled A serious book about a serious problem by reporter Cathy Braun.

I am a businessman turned socially-concerned citizen. In 1997, I began working as a part time volunteer guardian ad-Litem (GAL) for Hennepin County, Minnesota. A guardian is a court appointed child advocate for children in the child protection system. I now know about 50 children who have passed through child protection. Two of those children have been in my life for six to eight years. The experience has been astounding. I now know that a very large part of my community’s population suffers from bad laws and very poor understanding of what the real issues are. Observations on this weblog will mostly deal with my work with abandoned and neglected children and the data gathering I do related to children’s issues. My dream is to create a growing awareness through a grassroots movement for abused and neglected children that will have an impact on the laws and social awareness that will affect their lives.
